I'm Jenny Jackson.
I’m a registered dietitian (RD) with a passion for fostering positive relationships with food and bodies in prenatal, postpartum, infant, toddler, and childhood nutrition. I studied dietetics at McGill University, and completed my practicums in hospitals, community clinics, & non-profit organizations in Montreal and Barbados.
While I was studying to be a dietitian, I trained and started working as a doula. The first time I attended a birth, I rushed from my shift in the hospital kitchen to the labour and delivery floor of that same hospital, still wearing my dietetics scrubs. Being a doula taught me how to hold space; to be present in moments with my clients, breathe with them, and to show them that I can handle being with them even in their most intense moments.
I’ve been a nanny for many families over the years, and having the privilege of working in childcare grounded my dietetics practice in the day-to-day reality of what it is like to care for children. After working for 3 years in private practice and long term care, I have recently returned to school to study to be a midwife. It has always been my “big dream”, and I’m beyond excited that it’s becoming a reality.
I love cast iron pans, strong coffee, and when a toddler's nap-time goes well. When I’m not studying, I can be found walking my stubborn puppy, working on our small farm, or sitting around kitchen tables with friends talking about our worlds.
